VoIP is the acronym for "Voice over Internet Protocol".
VoIP is a general term for a family of transmission technologies for delivery of voice communications over IP networks such as the Internet or other packet-switched networks. Other terms frequently encountered and synonymous with VoIP are IP telephony, Internet telephony, voice over broadband (VoBB), broadband telephony, and broadband phone.
Internet telephony refers to communications services - voice, facsimile, and/or voice-messaging applications - that are transported via the Internet, rather than the public switched telephone network (PSTN). The basic steps involved in originating an Internet telephone call are conversion of the analog voice signal to digital format and compression/translation of the signal into Internet Protocol (IP) packets for transmission over the Internet; the process is reversed at the receiving end.
Our VoIP offers are especially built for enterprises that are spending a huge amount of money for their actual telephone systems and telephone bills. With these systems, there won't be any telephone bill anymore for calls between the main office and the branch offices located perhaps in other countries. Every internal telephone communication will pass through the internet passing through a site-to-site VPN tunnel especially configured for these purposes. This technology permits you to eliminate your old telephone calling method but it's fully compatible with PSTN or ISDN lines if you need to use them.
Base functional schema:
Every call starting from an office where the VPN tunnel is present, directed to an office where the VPN tunnel is also present, will go through the VPN tunnel over the internet. The cost of these calls is 0!
Every call starting from an office where the VPN tunnel is present, directed to a number outside the enterprise, will pass through the PSTN / ISDN / VoIP telephone provider. You will pay the call.
Our VoIP systems are based on the Asterisk Open Source Project. We don't use pre-built systems like AsteriskNOW, Trixbox or Elastix in order to build our systems. We start from scratch with the operating system (generally debian) and we compile the VoIP software and modules upon the customer's needs.
Asterisk is software that turns an ordinary computer into a voice communications server. Asterisk is the world's most powerful and popular telephony development tool-kit. It is used by small businesses, large businesses, call centers, carriers and governments worldwide. Asterisk is open source and is available free to all under the terms of the GPL.
